Byrne Dairy

Wanted to give everyone a peek at a new Tonkin Replicas 1:64 PEM product.

The model was done for Byrne Dairy, a large dairy product manufacturer headquartered in Syracuse, NY.
Actual photo (above), scale model (below)
This Kenworth T800 day cab with 45' turnpike doubles was produced with much care and detail. We paid attention to everything, from the Carrier reefer unit on one trailer, and the ThermoKing on the other, to this fleets incredibly detailed artwork. We even acquired a spray out sample of Byrne Dairy's very special fleet color to apply to the model:

These units are available for purchase at My Diecast Promotions.

A few resellers

Looking for older Tonkin product? One of the best places to go is Jay Libby's Toy Truck Stop. He has dedicated an entire section to early product, including a large selection of Consolidated Freightways (CF).

One of the widest selections of modern Tonkin Replicas products can be found at 3000toys.com. 3000toys.com has a few special Tonkin Replicas runs available such as the last CFI scale model made in addition to trucks such as Zelo Water (visit the real Zelo Water site here).

Great photos and a good price can be found on Little Big Truck Greenbush Logisitics Volvo with flatbed. Greenbush Logistics is the largest distributor of pressure treated pine in the nation (there are a wide range of wood preservation techniques, you can read about those here). You can visit the real Greenbsuh logistics here.

2001 - distinctive markings

Did you know that in 2001, many of the Tonkin Replicas signature series trucks included an individual, serialized metal plate?

Tampo/pad printing pad

Here is a photo of one of the pads we use for printing logos on the trucks... This one is a little old and not currently on active duty, but is still a good example.

Fleet Cards

Digging back a little ways (these are not new) but were you aware that several fleets which had Precision Series trucks produced also had a card that was made as well (4"x6")? Click on the photo to enlarge.

Munkittrick

For those of you who had questioned the Precision Series Peterbilt Model 379 recently done for Munkittrick (available at most regular dealers), yes, their flatbed mudflaps are really like that.  Here is a picture of one of their real trucks...

Suggestions?

We have some extra royal blue Kenworth W900L 86" Studio parts we painted up- we had to use the extra paint.  If someone has a good suggestion as to what fleet or decoration we should print on these please e-mail pc1@tonkinreplicas.com.  We would do less than minimum if we used this unit.

Going to the Mid-America Truck Show March 19-21?  Visit Tonkin Replicas at booth 40545.

This is not a new ad, it was done some time ago for Canadian Trucker.  The truck shown is the L'Express Du Midi Kenworth W900L 86" studio, some regular dealers had this truck.  One of my favorites.

Random E-bay items

Surfing e-bay and found a 2nd run Interstate (with Wabash Duraplate) here.  Of course all the details are wrong in the post (it wasn't released in 2008, it is a Volvo VNL 780 not a 770, etc) but a good truck nonetheless.

I see some 1:87 Wal-marts are surfacing.  This is a Columbia not a Volvo, but fine.  This one was over $30 last I checked here.

I see FatJack is getting rid of a bunch of Signature Series wheels.  FatJack is a custom builder- he does good work.  Check out his custom work on the front page of collector tips.

Older units?  This lot apparently has both a Viking Freight truck and a Carolina.

Speaking of Viking, here are the trailers.  Those 28' trailers have pretty heavy ribbing down the side.  I wonder what happened to the cab.

Birch Creek Farms is offering quite a bit of free shipping.  Here is a link to the chrome SYSCO Sterling.  On a 1:53 scale truck that can make quite a difference- they can be heavy trucks!
