EBD - the build

Thanks to Bill for e-mailing in this link on EBD- it is a nice review titled "Building a Show Truck" which centers around how Ryan Danylchuck built the model along with some great update photos.

Hank's Truck Pictures

The best site on the web for viewing photos of real trucks, Tonkin Replicas was an early supporter of Hank Suderman's Hank's Truck Pictures.  An unbelievable collection of real truck photography.

Online ads (not used)

When advertisements are done or marketing pieces often more than 1 is done at the concept stage.

Here are a few for www.tonkinprecision.com

These banner ads were never used...  But here is one designed for the discovery tool:

Some problems

Blogger is not letting us upload images. Not sure exactly why... Sure there are lots of photos of "super models" but none of them are what we consider "censor worthy" at this time... Hopefully we will fix this soon.

Online ads (from 2004)

Reaching back to 2004 before the upcoming election, we asked people to vote:  for their favorite truck.

The ad pitted two veteran artists against each other as they sought "best design." Both were part of the Precision Series Patriotic design series.

USA Truck

Not exactly a new truck, but we had a request to post this photo from the archives and we are here to serve...  USA truck is a Van Buren, AR based fleet.  Simple but classic design.  My understanding (not confirmed) is these were used internally.

5 years later (and still the best)

It has been a long long time now since the development of Tonkin Replicas lowboy trailer.  Here is a photo from 2004 showing part of the product development.  I found this in the archives, and thought it was interesting.

Fun with Dioramas

Part of the fun of collecting is combining products and creating dioramas.  Shown here was an early concept (not used) that combined a ton 1:87 scale 53' trailer with some HO scale people (source unknown).

Ads that didn't make it

At Tonkin Replicas a lot of ads get made.  Quite a few concepts, several of which end up on the cutting room floor never to see the light of day.  Here is one rejected ad example, produced for fun by a senior artist (who was apparently very hungry).

The original intent was to highlight the fact that Tonkin Replicas makes quite a few scales.  Each scale having a different market, different use, and different price point.

Peterbilt Dump Trucks

I ran across these on Midwest Replicas site. Not exactly new, but still the only place you can buy the Precision Series Peterbilt Quad-axle dump truck. These dump trucks actually fit a business card perfectly- that wasn't the original intent but they make great holders. Even better: they are on sale. Picture stolen from Midwest Replicas 1:53 scale section with no apologies.

For the Red Dump Truck click here.

Groupe Harnois

Here is a better photo of the latest Harnois Petroleum tanker.  The scale model truck shown here was done using a Precision Series Volvo with a 4-axle Remtec tanker.
