Richard recently hosted an American Highway Legends (A.H.L.) 1:64 scale kit bash contest featuring work by several customizers. First place was won by John Ackerman, but some great work here all around by quite a few different people. If you have ever taken the time to customize or kit bash a truck you have to check this out. WTF? That is internet short hand for: I was very surprised to see this. Once you thought you have seen it all, some guy in a Chinese light truck shows you that "drifting" is not only a global sport, it can be done in a truck as well. I'd like to see him try this in a Kenworth W900L 86" Studio.

Dump truck to add a hitch!

Tonkin Replicas has added a trailer hitch to its Precision Series dump truck. The first units delivered that have this hitch are to Peterbilt dealers although there are black and white Kenworth dump trucks coming in a few weeks that should be available at most resellers of Tonkin Replicas products. The trailer hitch was designed with the short term interest of the small trailer that was developed for the Sterling LT9500 material handler. That said, it might be difficult to get one of those trailers as they are not widely available on the collector market yet. Medium and long term there are a lot more possibilities...

While some scale model truck manufacturers have cut back on offerings, due to the economy or for other reasons, Tonkin Replicas continues to offer more and more options. Already offering the lowest quantity of fully customized scale model trucks for fleets, now Tonkin Replicas has more options for scale model truck customizers- the guys who custom build or scratch build one or two trucks at a time. Good Deal (Cal-Ark)

Looking around at some online retailers of die-cast trucks we saw 3000toys.com is now offering a pretty good deal on a CalArk 9400 here. Not only is it a good price but they appear to be offering free shipping as well. For those of you not familiar with CalArk International, they a truckload carrier based in Arkansas that has been around a LONG time (since 1975). You can visit their website here.

The model on sale is a blue 9400, there were two versions done at the same time: a blue and a red 9400, although CalArk runs a wide range of cab colors.

A great source for real photos of course remains Hank's Truck pictures which has probably the best collection of trucks out there. Plenty of D.H.E. trucks shown on his site. If you are looking for the actual company site you need to "go dependable." A few resellers seem to have the scale model for sale, including here at Central Valley Models...
