Agriculture Double Flatbeds
When it comes to efficient design and versatility not much beats the double flatbed combinations found in most agricultural areas. Created using an outside frame, these flatbeds can carry a wide range of products ranging from walnuts, tomatoes, grapes, and onions- all depending on what the season is and what needs to be sent to the market. Varying in lengths ranging between 22’-28’ long, each flatbed is primarily hollow in the center- with the exception of special support beams. This allows for an assortment of accessories to be added to the trailers depending on what is being carried.

Often, that means simply putting wood boards down, on top of which can sit an array of goods such as bailed cardboard, sheet rock, flour sacks, hay loads, etc. which are either left open or tarped over depending on the weather and the specifications of the load. To carry produce, the boards can be removed and a specialized piece of equipment can be set inside the frame (or on the boards) such as tubs that carry tomatoes floating in water to protect them, walnuts carried in a specialized “walnut hopper” that can be carried directly from the harvest site to the processing plant, grape tanks which are similar (but smaller than) tomato tubs, onion bins featuring chicken wire and a sloped side for easy loading, and other very specific contraptions that help safely move the product from the fields to the supermarket. The number of different types of loads carried by this type of trailer is endless- an tribute to the ingenuity of the agricultural freight market.
