Customization Made Easy
Collectors know a good truck when they see one - and they know what they need to make it even better. Now, Tonkin Replicas is making it easier.
Available for their industry leading die-cast trucks are a large list of aftermarket parts - everything from bumpers with rookie bars to wheel covers, from roof wings to fat stacks. A short list of parts available include:
-An aftermarket "Texas" Bumper
-Two styles of drive wheel covers
-Two styles of aftermarket "fat" exhaust stacks
-A hood mounted mini-turbo wing
-A roof-conversion piece to create a flat roof Peterbilt Model 379 from an existing standard model
-New light bar options for the side of the truck
-A large roof mounted turbo wing for the roof of the sleeper
-Much much more!
Currently fitting their Precision Series Kenworth W900 and Peterbilt 379 families (with plans to add more for other models), the parts raise the customization options to a level rarely seen in a factory-built die-cast scale model. Those familiar with Tonkin Replicas Precision Series line already know that each model comes highly detailed with between 100-150 individual parts per cab. The "stock" model already comes with many innovative features already such as doors that open, interior seats that slide, miniature sun visors that flip down, etc. The accessory pack only adds to what can be done to individualize a product that is already highly detailed.
The unusually large number of individual parts on the cab make customizing the rig much easier. In some cases - such as the roof conversion piece for the Peterbilt Model 379 - a simple "snap on, snap off" is the only thing required. In other cases - such as replacing the exhaust stacks - some patience, a steady hand, and some modeler's glue is recommended. For fans of television shows such as .MT's Trick My Truck, the accessory pack is a dream come true. There is no need to hand build some of the meticulously small parts previously necessary to make a truly accessorized unit.
Currently there are two options to getting the accessories: They can be purchased from independent hobby shops as individual pieces and assembled by hand, or they can be purchased as part of a pre-assembled truck that is part of a stocking program. The trucks shown in these pictures are actually sold through a wholesale distributor of Tonkin Replicas products called Trucks 'N Stuff, located in Stockton, California. Trucks 'N Stuff can be reached at 209-469-0115. They carry a dozen designs which are available exclusively through wholesale to qualified hobby stores. In addition to that, Tonkin Replicas' Hobby Division also carries limited quantities. They can be reached at 206-542-6919 or via email.
